Our Story

Who We Are

At Stevens Swim School, we believe that everyone should learn how to swim and be safe around water. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced swimmer, our team of dedicated teachers is here to help. We believe that everyone should have the chance to learn this essential life skill, and we're committed to creating a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for all our students. Our journey began when Jennifer, our founder, was 8 years old, and she realized that she didn't know how to swim when she went to a friend's party when she lived in the Philippines. She felt left out, helpless, and embarrassed to be holding on to the side of the pool while her friends jumped off the diving board and swam effortlessly.  She learned to swim when she moved to the US  as a 9 yr old. As an adult, vowed that her future children would all know how to swim and never feel helpless as she had as a child. She and her husband built a pool, and she taught her four children from when they were babies to swim.  Friends started asking her to teach their kids. Jennifer quickly realized that the Tuscaloosa area had only limited options , so she started offering swimming lessons in her backyard pool. As her program grew, she enlisted the help of her children, who have been competitively swimming since they were 4-6 years old. From our first class of 12 students to today, we're proud to have helped hundreds of people become confident swimmers. Join us on this journey and learn the gift of swimming.

Our Process

What You Need to Know

At Stevens Swim School, we believe that learning to swim should be a fun and rewarding experience. Our classes are designed to help students of all ages and skill levels become confident swimmers. We start with the basics and build from there, so even if you've never been in a pool before, we can help.
Our classes are taught by certified instructors who have been trained in the latest teaching techniques. We keep our class sizes small to ensure that each student gets individual attention. And we use a variety of teaching aids, such as flotation devices and water toys, to make learning more engaging.
If you have any questions about our program or would like to sign up for lessons, please don't hesitate to contact us.
